Châteaux de la Vallée de la Loire
by Victor Petit
Ch. Boivin, Éditeur d'Estampes, Paris
Original two-tone stone lithographs over 155 years old.
Sheet size: 15 x 21 inches • Image sizes vary (see information below thumbnail images).
Most plates have a slight buckle to the paper—which would not be noticeable once matted/framed.
Descriptive text (in French) is available. Please enquire when purchasing if you would like a photocopy.
(note: ALL of these lithos have small "pin pricks" where the original lithographic plates were pinned to the press
to assure proper printing registration. This was a short-lived method used by some French lithographers in the 19th century.
These tiny holes are really only noticeable when held up to the light, or very closely regarded.)
A highlight of any holiday in France is a visit to the elegant Châteaux nestled along the banks of the Loire. Also known
as the "garden of France," the Châteaux region conjures up the grandeur and excitement of life at the French Court and the Châteaux are an unforgettable experience for those who have visited them. Most of the Châteaux still exist, many are in excellent condition and may be visited. Some smaller Châteaux now serve as hotels and inns. This collection of lithographs, among the best graphics ever made of these charming buildings, are scarce and offer a unique opportunity for those who would like a beautiful reminder of the splendor of the Loire Valley.
